Tucker named director of Penn State CHOT site

9/12/2016

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Conrad Tucker, assistant professor of engineering design and industrial engineering, has been named the director of the Penn State site of the Center for Health Organization Transformation (CHOT).

CHOT is a National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry/University Collaborative Research Center (I/UCRC) with sites at Penn State, Florida Atlantic University, Georgia Tech, Northeastern University, Texas A&M University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The center conducts research to support the implementation of evidence-based transformational strategies within health care organizations.

The Penn State site in particular works to promote interdisciplinary research aimed at improving the delivery of health care in the United States. A significant focus of the site is on transformative impact and quantitative measurements and analysis of the providers, payors and patients within the health care system.

Penn State’s core faculty contributors have developed a strong history of working collaboratively across multiple units, engaging health care providers as partners in applied research, and working closely with students to address research needs of the relevant industry partners.

As the site of a NSF I/UCRC, the site was also recently awarded Phase II funding. More information can be found on the NSF I/UCRC website.

Tucker, who is also an affiliate professor of computer science, succeeds Harriet Nembhard as the site director and principal investigator. Nembhard recently left Penn State to become the head of the School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University.

For more information about the center, visit the Penn State CHOT website.
