Human-Technology Interaction Laboratory

The Human-Technology Interaction Laboratory (HTI Lab) focuses on understanding the cognitive mechanism of how humans interact with intelligent technologies and automation systems to address complex cognitive engineering design problems in transportation and healthcare systems.

The research interests of HTI Lab include human cognition and performance, human trust in automation, situation awareness, individual differences, warning interface design, and human performance modeling. This is accomplished by adopting the experimental approach and developing cognitive computational models and machine learning models to address human-automation interaction challenges and optimize the design of automotive user interfaces in connected and automated vehicles.

The HTI Lab is directed by Yiqi Zhang, assistant professor of industrial engineering and Larson Transportation Institute, and is located in 224 Leonhard Building.
