Penn State Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Society
The Penn State Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Society (PSIMES) was established in 1998 as an affiliate program group of the Penn State Engineering Alumni Society. PSIMES works to stimulate the continued interest and professional development of all graduates of the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) and acts as an informal advisory board to the head of the department. The group strives to promote fellowship and communication among industrial engineering (IE) alumni, faculty and students in order to actively work for the improvement of the department and the College of Engineering.
PSIMES sponsors both a Mentoring Program and Job Shadowing Program. The mentoring program connects students to IME alumni for a one on one relationship to assist students with navigating their time at Penn State as well as the job search and interview processes. The job shadowing program provides an opportunity for students to spend a day with alumni in their professional working environment. Both programs allow students to further explore and understand more about working in the IE profession.
The society, along with the department, also oversees the annual Graduate of the Last Decade Award nomination and selection processes.
