Student Eligibility and Registration

Students who wish to participate in the PSIMES Job Shadowing Program must be interested or enrolled in an industrial engineering program at Penn State. Students must provide their own transportation to the onsite job shadow events.

Students must be willing to:

  • Spend a day during the fall or spring semester onsite at a company during normal business hours (for organizations that operate on a 24-hour per day, seven-day a week schedule, normal business hours may include the evening or the weekend) OR spend two-to-four hours on a pre-scheduled virtual (online) discussion with practicing engineers
  • Schedule the job shadow event so it does not interfere with any industrial/manufacturing engineering classes and fits the schedule of the hosting organization staff
  • Commit to attending the job shadow event on the date and time scheduled (in person or virtually)
  • Complete a Job Shadow Program feedback form upon completion of the program, if requested

Participation

Students interested in participating in the Job Shadowing Program must fill out the questionnaire.
