Kumara to speak at upcoming engineering conferences

10/1/2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Soundar Kumara, Allen E. Pearce/Allen M. Pearce Professor of Industrial Engineering at Penn State, will be a featured panelist at upcoming industry conferences hosted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS) this fall.

Kumara will participate as an invited panelist for the “From Data to Insight: Big Data and Analytics for Smart Manufacturing Systems” session at the IEEE 2015 International Conference on Big Data Oct. 29-Nov.1 in Santa Clara, California.

He will also participate in “The Internet of Things (IoT)” panel at the INFORMS Annual Meeting Nov. 1-4 in Philadelphia. There he will discuss connecting sensors to the IoT device and analyzing the collected data.

“I am delighted to have been invited to speak to such broad audiences about the exciting things happening in data collection and analysis in manufacturing and the service industry,” said Kumara. “I am also humbled to take part in these ‘expert panels’ and I look forward to engaging conversations with my fellow panelists and conference participants.”

In addition, Kumara was named the keynote speaker at the International Through-life Engineering Services Conference Nov. 3-4 at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.
