Institute of Industrial Engineers awards Penn State student chapter recognition award

7/13/2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA — The Penn State student chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) has received a 2014-2015 Student Chapter Recognition Award. The group earned IIE’s Silver Award in recognition of the improvements, progress and overall achievements it demonstrated during the 2014-15 academic year.

The institute’s University Chapter Activity Report (UCAR) is the basis for the Chapter Recognition Program awards. The UCAR provides a simple measurement system that allows the student chapters to see improvement trends and to monitor progress. Gold, silver and bronze awards are given based on UCAR points scored.

The 2014-15 IIE officers who led the group’s efforts were: Jamie Sweeney (’15 IE), president and former Schreyer Honors College Scholar; Andrew Calderon, co-vice president; Andrew Smiddy, co-vice president and corporate chair; Jim Cushwa, secretary; Katie Wolfe, treasurer; Pooja Errabelli, special events; Katie Drawl (’15 IE), social chair; Lindsay Skal (’15 IE) and Zachary Santos, THON chairs; and Elton Silveira, conference chair.

The mission of the Penn State IIE student chapter is to represent the industrial engineering profession and department responsibly and honestly while enhancing the capabilities of all of its members and developing the next generation of industrial engineers.
